AnswerAyurveda tells us that this extreme discomfort can be due to several factors: your biological rhythms are out of sync, you may have imbalances in your physiology, or you may have a buildup of ama. You can promote proper biological rhythms by maintaining a proper balance in your daily rhythms, being especially careful to get regular sleep. A Vata imbalance can be at the root of many monthly discomforts. To bring Vata back in balance try to favor foods that are warm, heavy, oily, sweet, sour and salty; avoid cold food and drinks; develop regular habits; and favor calm, quiet environments. Drinking Vata Tea and doing daily massage with our luxurious Vata Massage Oil are particularly balancing for Vata. And to discourage the buildup of ama, be sure to eat a healthy and balanced diet and enjoy regular (but not strenuous) exercise.
