Your body’s first line of defense is a balanced immune system. Ayurveda is founded on the principle of promoting immunity naturally for overall good health and wellness – averting the danger yet to come.
Maharishi Ayurveda has many products that address immunity. In this article, we discuss our formula Bio-Immune. It was specifically created to strengthen the immune system by helping to address the source of imbalance without causing side effects.
Synergistically combined, meaning that the collective benefit is much greater than that of the individual herbs, the powerful herbs and nourishing minerals in Bio-Immune have a rasayana value. Rasayanas are that which promote health and longevity and are balancing to all the doshas. This is the biggest strength of a rasayana – it is balancing.
The herbs in Bio-Immune are combined in precise proportions and prepared in the traditional Ayurvedic way. Let’s take a closer look.
The first ingredient in Bio-Immune is Indian tinospora, an important Ayurvedic herb that has a strong balancing quality. It is very helpful in regulating a healthy body temperature. Then there is ashwagandha, known to help give strength within the muscles and bones and balance Vata dosha in the mind and body. Next, the formula contains boerhavia which helps in rejuvenating and renewing cells. Boerhavia is also helpful in slowing the biological aging process. These first three ingredients are very important and powerfully balancing.
We then add holy basil which promotes a healthy respiratory system and supports healthy mucous levels. Next is gotu kola, another herb that is helpful in brain function and providing strength. Then vidanga which is helpful in supporting digestion and also helps with removing toxins, and supporting overall healthy gut flora. (Most of our formulas have some element that helps with digestion, as balance starts with good digestion and a healthy gut.) Then there is neem, which helps detoxify the body and purify the blood. Dwarf morning glory, a brain tonic, provides strength and helps in calming mental activities. Ginger is an important herb for good digestion. Long Pepper is also helpful in supporting digestion and a healthy respiratory system. Then we add mica, a respiratory system strengthener. Our mica is processed using the traditional Ayurvedic method in a decoction of herbs and literally takes months to complete. It is dried and burned under controlled oxygen one-hundred times. Thus giving it the name one-hundred-times-processed mica basma. Through this process it becomes extremely fine; its bioavailability is significantly increased so only a very small quantity is needed. Mica basma is helpful in increasing the efficacy of the other herbs as well, thus increasing the efficacy of the entire formula.
Next, there is coral, a good source of calcium. All the calcium that comes from seashells, conch, pearl, mother of pearl, coral, is called Jaivacalcium in Ayurveda. These byproducts of living creatures contain a quality that Ayurveda considers more powerful and healthy than mineral-based calcium, and they are easier to digest and assimilate compared to the calcium from mineral sources. Coral basma plays a very strong role in the functioning of the body including heart and muscle functioning because these all require calcium to operate. The use of calcium is also balancing for Kapha dosha and helpful in the elimination of ama (toxins) and for improving the quality of the blood.
In summary, Bio-Immune targets strengthening the system, especially respiratory health. It is also effective in maintaining healthy body temperature when the seasons change from summer to winter and from winter to summer.
We recommend taking 1-2 tablets of Bio-Immune twice a day after breakfast and at bedtime with warm water for a month or two at the change of the seasons. For the full cumulative benefits, continue for 3 months.
