Our signature Amrit Kalash is a powerful herbal rasayana (rejuvenative) that supports healthy aging and general rejuvenation. This potent herbal formula is popular among adults, but rasayanas can have a profound positive effect on the health of growing kids too.
Rasayanas and children
Directly translated, the word “rasayana” means "that which enters the essence" or "that which promotes health and longevity." These unique herbal compounds work on the level of the seven dhatus, the layers of bodily tissue that form the human body.
Rasayanas nourish the dhatus at every level, encouraging the bodily tissues to form in a balanced, holistic way, which promotes strength and immunity. The benefit of Amrit Kalash for children, from an Ayurvedic perspective, is providing vital nourishment early on. Amrit Kalash nourishes the dhatus in the formative years and utilizes the balancing effect of these herbs to support coordination, growth, and development.
Ayurveda and the school years
In the elementary-school phase of childhood, kids enter into the formal educational process. During this time, medhya rasayana herbs (rasayanas for the mind) like dwarf morning glory and gotu kola contained in the Amrit Kalash formula provide a remarkable source of support for mental and intellectual functioning.
Learning and the Mind
According to Maharishi Ayurveda, there are three aspects of mental ability:
- dhi — learning
- dhriti — retention
- smriti — recall
All three of these aspects are supported individually as well as coordinated with each other by the Medhya herbs, promoting clarity, understanding and memory. Read about Ayurveda, learning, and ADHD.
Learning and Emotions
Finally, one of the most significant areas of growth in childhood is in the field of relationships. There comes a time, especially when kids enter school age, when the heart starts to expand beyond the family to include friends, teachers, neighbors, boyfriends and girlfriends. Ayurveda offers a wealth of knowledge on navigating relationships with love and kindness.
Amrit Kalash for emotional wellbeing
There are herbs in Amrit Kalash that affect the emotional heart — the hridya herbs. These herbs, according to the texts of Ayurveda, have a balancing influence on Sadhaka Pitta, the subdosha of Pitta that governs the heart and emotions.
The overall effect is to stabilize the emotions, increase the resistance to everyday stress and enhance coordination between mind and heart. A balanced Sadhaka Pitta gives rise to a general sense of satisfaction and well being, which forms the basis of a person's ability to give.
Giving love, friendship, support, empathy and understanding — this is the source of meaningful, rewarding relationships.
How to take Amrit Kalash: for children
The recommended way to take Amrit Kalash Nectar Paste for children ages 2-4 years old is ¼ teaspoon twice a day. This sweet herbal paste can be dissolved in warm milk and given in the morning and evening.
Ages 4 - 10 years old can take ½ teaspoon of the Nectar Paste and ½ tablet of the Amrit Kalash Ambrosia. The Nectar can again be dissolved in warm milk or taken as is from the jar. The Ambrosia ½ tablet is usually just dissolved in the mouth or chewed and swallowed.
For teens (ages 10 and above) the dose is the same as adults — 1 teaspoon of Paste and 1 tablet of Ambrosia twice a day, morning and evening.
